Product review: DEEP ACTION FACIAL WIPES (Clean & Clear)

Make-up remover is an essential product, because if you don’t wash off your makeup before you go to sleep, it facilitates build-up of germs, causing your skin to get greasy and look bad. The cleansing wipes that I have been using recently are Deep Action Facial Wipes. 

Product reviews: three shower gels (Radox, Boots own brand)

The Radox Brazilian fusion was 50p from Superdrug, the Zingy Lime Fizz was 75p from Boots, and the Radox lavender and waterlily shower gel was £1 from Boots.

Radox Brazillian fusion was by far my favourite of the three. It had an incredibly fresh smell and I loved the way it left my skin feeling afterwards, smooth and hydrated. There was a spicy edge to its aroma, which I presume is the Brazilian contingent. A.

The 'zinginess' of the Boots Zingy lime fizz was a little too pungent; the smell completed overpowered my nosebuds when I applied some. Unfortunate, as I adore the colour (my bedroom walls are that exact same shade of lime green). C

Conversely, the scent of the Radox lavender and waterlilly was far too faint. No sooner had I applied it to my skin and washed it off, the smell of the product had gone. I know shower gels aren't supposed to linger that much (that's what perfumes are for, after all), but this shower gel was too diluted by half. The picture above, of the watery consistency, can attest to that. C+

As with the skincare products reviewed here, I bought these three lipbalms as part of a ‘3 for the price of 2’ deal at Boot’s. The Blistex and Carmex products were £2.69 apiece, so the cheapest, the Nivea lipbalm (£2.49), came free.

Product reviews: MANGO and VANILLA BODY BUTTER (Boot’s)

Back in March, when going through airport security before my holiday in Prague, it transpired that due to a last minute reshuffle of things in suitcases, I’d put my expensive Body Shop blueberry body lotion in my hand luggage rather than my check-in luggage. 

As you can see, the size of the container is substantially higher than the limit of liquids you’re allowed on a flight, and so, a perfectly good container of body lotion which was only about 80% used was unceremoniously confiscated from me.

Now that the sun’s finally shining the UK, I now need lotion to apply to my legs, lest they look too dry when wearing sundresses, so I had to replenish my body moisturiser supply. I bought these two items as part of a ‘Buy one get second half price’ deal.

These three ties were all £1.50 each, but they were all part of a '3 for the price of 2' offer, so they worked out to be £1 each.

Product reviews: BLUEBERRY BODY BUTTER AND PEACH BODY SCRUB (The Body Shop)

Post-Christmas sales, I treatment myself to two Body Shop items to make my daily showering routine a teensy bit more exciting. They were the blueberry butter and the peach body scrub, pictured below, both 200ml in quantity.

One aspect of both products that I can't fault is the design of the containers. I love the colours and the simplistic use of just one fruit on the front. After I've finished the products, I'mma keep the containers to store my jewellery!

Models Own Eyelash Curler Review

I bought these last week, when, at the peak of my despair over the fugliness of my eyes, I resorted to desperate measures: the medieval torture device-lookalike that is the eyelash curler.

 

To this items credit, it didn’t gouge my eyes out, which is why I’d been evading them for many a year, and after watching a few YouTube tutorials I immediately picked up how they worked. Furthermore, the hot pink handles of the product are what set it apart for me from the cheaper but dull-looking Boots own-brand, and the more expensive and sophisticated looking No.7 version of the item.

 

 

 

My main gripe with the product is a pretty big one, and that is of functionality. I did what the tutorials said: slotted my eyelashes into the gap and help it up for 30 seconds, and my eyelashes did not curl. At all. Now, it would be harsh to fault that entirely with the product because my eyelashes, like my hair, are the most stubbornly straight little buggers in the universe and I sort of knew before even buying the product that eyelash curlers would make very little difference. But I didn’t know they’d make none whatsoever. So really, the process of me “curling” my eyelashes proved to be nothing other than a Placebo effect that costs £6. My eyelashes are, and are doomed forever to be, irredeemably small and ugly.
