Review of five Maison Margiela perfume samplers

In my review of the LookFantastic Autumn Scent Edit, I commented that I couldn’t see the fuss around Maison Margiela’s Lazy Sunday Morning fragrance. On FeelUnique, the site where I have been getting perfume samplers for the last few months to share my thoughts on here, they conveniently had several other Maison Margiela fragrances as samplers. Thus, I thought this would be an opportune moment to see if my ‘meh’ response to Lazy Sunday Morning was an anomaly, or if this brand as a whole wasn’t to my taste.

I’m so Thirsty (You already know).

When I’m not whining about how terrible the music in La La Land was, I like to sample a wide range of food and drink. My brother, graciously, shares this passion, so when he was back home over the Christmas holidays we basically raised Tesco and just bought whatever drinks we thought looked pretty.

Here be photos of and brief thoughts on said buys!

Hi Tealicia.

Brief thoughts on two new teas I’ve sampled recently.

Cake watch: banoffee pie (John Lewis)

The cream, chocolate on the cream and fudge binding everything together was a dream, but the base tasted a little stale. Overall, still delicious, but a tiny bit below John Lewis' (admittedly much higher than average) bar.

Brief review of two Twinnings tea flavours.

The strawberry and mango tea was a little too pungent for my tastes (6/10), but the raspberry, strawberry & loganberry was more palatable (7.5/10). I particularly enjoyed the addition of that third ingredient - it gave the tea a moreish kick.

Breakfast watch: Luna Café (Chiswick)

The sausages were a little burnt, but the actual ingredients used for it was very high quality. Big fan of the crispy bacon and the oily hash brown. Decent amount of baked beans, and just look at that deliciously buttered toast!

The only real downside was that for drink, you could only have coffee or tea. I wanted orange juice! That would have washed the meal down better. And I don't really like mushrooms, so I would have rather had more of the other ingredients rather than the mushroom.

Overall though, very solid.

Cake watch: chocolate fudge cake (John Lewis)

John Lewis' cake collection are the gift that keep on giving. A generous chunk of chocolate cake, pure indulgence, utterly delicious.

Tea watch: 加多寶 herbal tea.

I got given a crate of 加多寶 herbal teas for Christmas, and have been drinking a can a day. They're very much an acquired taste - my brother had one sip and didn't touch it again, whereas me and my parents love it. It does have a very sweet taste, which appeals to my sweet tooth, but the rest of the  ingredients are all extremely organic and good for you, so you could do much worse than to drink this. The only possible stumbling block is the price (it's considerably pricier than other teas), but if you're looking for a treat, I recommend you give this a go.

Bea's Vintage Tea Rooms.

For my housemate's birthday, we had tea at Bea's Vintage Team Rooms, in Bath. In Bath, there are a lot of places where you can go for tea, but we chose this one as the prices were reasonable for the amount of food on offer. And it was a lovely experience!~~

It was one of these platters to share between two people, and they filled us up a treat! The sandwiches came in three flavours: salmon, cucumber and cream cheese, and egg and cress. They were all wonderfully made so that even a seemingly plain flavour like cucumber ended up being really tasty. The clotted cream was very rich and there were a range of cakes.  Me and Theo shared the chocolate and lemon ones, I preferred the chocolate but the meringue on top of the lemon cake rendered it quite tasty too.

Overall, a wonderfully cute place to go, full of pretty teacups, friendly staff and delicious food. Recommended!
