Happiness is the same price as red bottoms.

In a happy sequel to me getting my Gal Gadot piercing, I passed the exam I sat in my September sitting. As I've developed a tendency to treat myself for exam passes (and the substantial toil I put myself through to pass them), I also got myself something for being successful this time. 

Except, whereas a cartilage piercing only costs £30, I levelled up substantially this time, with £495 Louboutins:

For my next exam pass, I won't be splurging on something quite as extravagant (I'll probably get another ear piercing!), but I just had to get these heels this time. 

I've heard Louboutins, or 'red bottoms', name-dropped in many of my favourite hip-hop or pop songs (whether it be from Iggy Azalea, Cardi B, J-Lo, Ariana Grande or Lizzo), so there's always been a cachet around them. 

My two personal favourite references to Loubies in music is Ariana Grande trilling 'happiness is the same price as red bottoms' in 7 Things, and Jennifer Lopez (who I will be rooting for to win Best Supporting Actress next year for her fierce performance in Hustlers)'s song Louboutins.

And now I finally have a pair of red bottoms to call my own. ❤️

Review: Rocket Dog Dundee Black Buckle Ankle boots

Winter has arrived, which means I now require sturdier footwear than my fabric Adidas trainers. Step forward, these rather fashionable, yet also practical boots that I got from TK Maxx. I found the original boots on the Rocket Dog website, if you wish to buy them!

The heel is comfortably wide, meaning I avoid my usual faux pas when I walk in heels, which is losing balance and stumbling. The two buckles on the side give the otherwise quite plain design a bit of sass and the height of the boot means it doesn't cover just your feet but also your ankles, keeping them protected against the bitter winter cold.

The only small foible I had (which is common to many shoes when you first break them in) is that the first few times I wore it, I wore trainer socks, which proved unwise, because the inside lining of the boots caused friction against the uncovered part of my foot, causing it to bleed. Thus, if you're wearing these boots for the first time, by all means wear tights (even if you're wearing trousers), to make sure your feet are suitably covered.

Otherwise, excellent product, which I will be wearing a lot of in December!

Retrospective Outfit of the Day 1.

Today, I'm starting a new ~series in which I pick some of my favourite outfits I've worn in the past (or occasionally, what I'm currently wearing at the time of the blog entry), and list where I bought all the stuff. There's a couple of reasons why I'm doing this. First and foremost, cos it's fun!~~ And secondly, I'm not a huge online shopper, nor do I have that many designer label outfits, nor do I frequent thrift shops or anything. When it comes to clothes, 95% of my wardrobe comes from the high street, meaning I should, in theory, dress quite generically. My aim is to show that with a few odd bits and bobs here and there, you can really make an outfit your own.

I wore this ensemble on my last night on holiday with Anna (the namesake of this blog) in our stay in Toarmina, Sicily. Here it is:

Shoe review: MID HIGH SLOUCH CASUAL BOOTS (Barratts)

With the bitter cold of the English winter hitting us, I like to make sure every layer of my skin is fully covered. The skinny-jeans-and-boots combination is one way I can stay vaguely fashionable, whilst still warding off the cold, and the boots that have aided me in doing this best have been my trusted pair of tan Mid High Slouch Casual Boots from Barratts.

Comfort-wise, they are just right; I have also been wearing my Hunter boots on occasion, which are made of such a thick rubber that they weigh on the feet after long walks, as well as my New Look suede pair, for which the material was too flimsy and thin to offer my feet sufficient protection from the cold. 

These boots – nicknamed Poodle – are made from a soft leather material that feels great to touch but also does the job in actually covering our tooties.

Aesthetically, they work a treat too, covering my jeans just right and coming up just about mid-way on my calves. This style is available in two colours – black or tan- both colours which complement any choice outfits (especially the black ones). I, however, opted for tan, as the shade of brown of these boots were just completely perfect and suits my skin tone better.

The low heel makes these boots very practical for walking in (perfect as I have a steep hill to get up on a daily basis) and very rarely for a pair of new shoes, I have experienced absolutely no problems in transitioning my feet into them. The softness of the material also means that my legs feel no discomfort either; quite the contrary, they are wonderfully shielded by the fabric. Perfect!
