The bbfc have a new word for rape.

It's called domestic violence, apparently.

I mean, don't get me wrong. There obviously was domestic violence in Streetcar, when Stan hits Stella, but isn't the most adult scene in Streetcar that when Stanley rapes Blanche? The violence in the scene where husband-hits-wife was no more than PG-worthy.

Anyway, just thought I'd share that random movie musing.

hmmn, you couldn't really see anything though...the rape was completely implied, whereas the hitting...well, you couldn't see that either, but you did actually see him punching something offscreen.

Y'know, I actually think it was the right call by the bbfc. I was watching it with my 10-year-old bro, who was terrified as frick, but I was the one who'd talked him into it, so if he found The Dark Knight scary, it was my fault really. Apart from the menace, there wasn't anything in there that hadn't been in Spider-Man II, which was only a PG.
