My Favourite Songs of 2007.

01. Umbrella (Rihanna)
For me, this is the ultimate Summer 2007 song, despite the fact that it’s all about rain. Spending 10 weeks at number one, it made umbrella a 4-syllabled word and rehashed the time-old “I’ll always be there for you” theme into the catchiest sleeper hit of the year. Umbrella as a metaphor? Yes!

Um… yeah. I know it can be construed as quite an annoying song (Jay-Z namedropping the movies Rain Man and little Miss Sunshine in the intro is one of the most hilarious things ever), but forgive me, I love it. Eh-eh-eh-eh-eh-eh.

Love the list =)

At first Umbrella was a bit annoying, but then I loved it. Have you heard Marie Digby's version?

Oh I was hoping to see The Killers' Read My Mind somewhere.

Sorry, can't stand Umburella, it drives me bonkers! I've done my own top 20 songs of 2007 but it doesn't look very impressive. I'm still shocked at myself for putting Justin Timberlake on it (LoveStoned is awesome!)

i debate people all the time on this, but my stance is YES, umbrella IS the song of 2007. it's so stimulating and catchy, and i have yet to tire of it. and jay-z's intro rap is so fly!

Emmabung! I searched Paper Planes in your blog, what, so in 2007 you didn't like it that much? Boozing at bath make you come around to it?

Also, this Amy Winehouse quote got me thinking twice about her character: "I’m not really a girl. I’m not even a boy’s girl. I’m a man’s man - and that doesn’t mean I’m a big ass. Men are far more straightforward. They don’t dwell on things and play psychological games. I’m not saying all women are like that, or that some men don’t play those games, but on the whole, men are more easy-going and don’t piss time up the wall. Life is short. Anything could happen and it usually does, so there is no point in sitting around thinking about all the ifs, ands and buts." Maybe she's not the pisshead we all thought.
