My thoughts on the NBR top 10 this year.

Sorry, I realise I'm a bit late, but here the 10 movies.

"Letters From Iwo Jima"
"Babel"
"Blood Diamond"
"The Departed"
"The Devil Wears Prada"
"Flags Of Our Fathers"
"The History Boys"
"Little Miss Sunshine"
"Notes on a Scandal"
"The Painted Veil"

Of the ones I've seen:

The Departed - good choice. Also a predictable choice.
The Devil Wears Prada - quite surprising, but I'm pleased, because it's also in my top 10 of the year. Highly entertaining, and with a head-turning performance from the wonderful Emily Blunt.
The History Boys - yes, yes, YES!!! Anyone who reads this blog should know how much I adore this movie; it's my number 2 of 2006.
Little Miss Sunshine - clichéd characters; didn't do it for me.

Er... OK. I've seen a lot. I'm disappointed that the majestic Pan's didn't make it, but God, how I thank my lucky stars that that overrated turd United 93 isn't on here. Let's just hope this is one of the many futurecoming "snubs", and that it shan't get anywhere near Oscar glory.

And no, I haven't forgotten your Christmas fix:

La.La.La.

Thank you! Someone else who isn't in love with the shitness of United 93!

Emma, did anyone tell you you're brilliant?

Hehe. You probably should't stroke my ego that much, you know, I've been told that my head's already too far up my arse.

You think Little Miss Sunshine and United 93 are overrated? Thank god. Both had great performances (although from the latter, only Trish Gates - the flight attendant - impressed me), but I was just like, "... This is what everyone's praising?" Blah.

Glad to see I'm not alone!

I thought United 93 was powerful, not that it required any effort or artistry whatsoever. Someone probably just said "Let's do this in real time with no-name actors and see what happens" and voila!

And the more awards traction Little Miss Sunshine gets, the more I start to actually HATE it, as opposed to my initial reaction (which was just mediocre). I know I shouldn't let these kinds of things get in the way of my opinions, but I can't help it.
