Volver didn't do it for me. As a seasoned AlmoFan ("I am fans") it felt like a pastiche of all that had gone before. Even the return of Carmen Maura didn't do it for me - looking so sad and bedraggled after so long away from Pedro... Chuz Lampreave was great as ever (but not as good as in The Flower of My Secret) and everyone did the right thing - including Cruz, she was beautiful and compelling. Hot stuff.
The film just didn't move me like All About My Mother does everytime I see it... I came out wanting more substance.
Offside got a very limited release in the UK, just before the World Cup. I managed to catch it in an Arthouse cinema. Had to go up to London, but it was totally worth it.

Interesting. I think I love Volver and Todo Sobre Mi Madre.
Seen both, loved both.
Did Offside actually release in the U.K., or did you see it at a festival?
your penelope cruz ad is excellent!
Thanks RC!
